Nurturing Through Non-Traditional Care
About faith:
FAIR ACCESS in
trans healthcare
FAITH is a multi-issue trans- and queer-led sexual health movement that includes a nonclinical HIV testing and prevention program that trains, employs, and supports TGNC and LGBQ people of color (POC) and POC living with HIV in the South. Through FAITH, TKO strives to ensure that the communities most impacted by HIV and other health disparities have access to health information, health insurance, education, and quality care.
Through FAITH, we have provided onsite HIV testing at informal interventions during local popular LGBTQ club nights and other LGBTQ-focused events; provided direct support for high-risk HIV-negative individuals; and connected TGNC and LGBQ people living with HIV to health and wellness services that address the socioeconomic factors that place LGBTQ people at greater risk of HIV.

aboutus
Since launching in October 2017, we have administered 250 HIV test in nightclubs and participated in four Pride events in West-Central Alabama, two Trans camp providing HIV education and testing and encouraging improved decision making among approximately 2,500 high-risk individuals, including MSM, youth ages 13-18 who have sex with men, and TGNC people.
TKO is located in historic Selma, Alabama. We operate the only TGNC community center within 150 miles of Dallas, Perry, Marengo, Lowndes, and Wilcox counties. We serve the TLBG community from our offices in Alabama, but we also frequently travel to other locations to provide such services, including to our collaborating partner programs in SC and TN.
